Crystal Pier Fishing Tournament 2008

On Saturday, August 16th...The Kid and I went and collected up about 1/2 gallon of muscle meat (already shucked). The provided bait, but we knew that muscle would be the killer bait.

Not long after the tourney started, Morgan caught a nice Spot Fin Croaker that weighed in at 2 pounds 4 oz. After that, she caught two more BSP's.

The Kid caught a YFC, a BSP, and a Leopard Shark. All fish caught on muscle. For some reason, he never asked his mother to take a pic of him and his fish.

I think everyone was excited about Morgan catching some fish, that we forgot about Thomas Shocked

For lunch we were served Thresher Shark tacos or hotdogs and plenty of water, juice or soda.

At 1:00, they started the raffle and awards. Many of the kids received rods and reels and other gifts. There were many generous prizes! While waiting for our tickets to get called in the raffle, the age group category winners were announced.

Well, Morgan happened to be the 7 and under girl winner with 4 fish, so she was awarded a "Pink Lady" fishing pole with reel, a loaded tackle box, and a beach paddle ball set.

Later, after all the raffle prizes were given out (much to the dismay of The Kid, who didn't win anything (all the numbers around his ticket were called except for his Sad )Morgan was announced as the Grand Prize winner with the biggest fish! She received (which made dad very happy) two fishing poles with reels, a huge loaded tackle box, 1/2 day free, 3/4 day free, a skate board, a beach kick ball, other odds and ends, etc. Way too much stuff to list.

Lake Tahoe

We were invited by Rob's old pal, Troy & his family to spend a long weekend at their house in Lake Tahoe. We had a wonderful time rafting the Truckee River one day, watching the kids have tons of fun together, going out to eat, hitting the Tahoe Beach & the guys jumping off the rocks.

LAS VEGAS, HOOVER DAM & THE GRAND CANYON

FAMILY VACATION 2008

We were due to go to Las Vegas to do some business with the house we've possibly inherited, so we decided to take the kids and call it vacation. Our first 4 days were spent in LV at the JW Marriott in an awesome suite.

The kids at the JW pool & waterfall.

One trip down the slide w/ Dad & Madi was going on her own over and over!

Lake Mead over look.

HOOVER DAM:
We toured Hoover Dam and went down inside. Pretty amazing that it was built in the 1930's (1931-1935) and so quickly with what equipment they had back then!

Inside the Hoover Dam (500 feet down!)

GRAND CANYON:
Then, off we went onto the Grand Canyon - so beautiful! Lisa didn't care for the kids on the edge very much she would freak out each time! We stayed the night in the park and rode the shuttle bus to various outlooks.

Kids get Away from the edge. Quit going
under the fence!!!!

We stayed at the Maswik lodge which was a far cry from the JW in Vegas!!! The ceiling fan they spoke about was actually a fan screwed to the wall! ha ha ha! Oh, we saw a deer walk right by our cabin. Morgan was loving that!

Then, onto Phoenix through Flagstaff. Lisa liked Flagstaff.... We made it to Lisa's brother's house in Phoenix (have to know how to get there to get their dog back to them afterall)!

T-Pee stop!

PHOENIX:

Patty, Ryan and Natalie really welcomed us with open arms! Spent the night with them and were able to do some babysitting for Natalie! She just loves her "Uncle Yob". But she gave some time this time too!

We scooted home the next day Madi was all of a sudden homesick. Maybe me too. The kids were fantastic on the driving trip and earned themselves the right to go again soon!
